Losing Fat and Lose Weight- The Difference? by Joel Riley

Obesity has been called the diseases of the rich by many people. And when you look closely, there is in fact some truth in this statement. Ask yourself when was the first and last time that you ever saw an obese beggar? Never isn't it? The reason why this is happening now is because of our higher living of standard. As we have more disposable income, we tend to spend more on luxuries of life. Previously, home cooked meals might be great but now, we prefer restaurants foods. As we start to eat more and more unhealthy foods from the restaurants, we end up getting bigger and bigger around the middle area of our body.

Wrong! Self-proclaimed fitness gurus, charlatans, etc. would advise you to lose weight. But they are giving you just a general type of advice. If you visit a doctor or a professional nutritionist, they will tell you that it is the FAT you should lose, NOT weight!

Our body is made up of not just fats. It is comprised of muscles, bones and other tissues as well and water. When you bear this in mind , only will you realizes that the phrase "weight loss" is misleading and inappropriate. So what most people are actually referring to is "Fat Loss" but sad to say many are unaware of this important difference.

So if you are set for losing weight, you could end up in endangering your health instead. How can you do something right when you don't even know what you are doing?

For example, there several ways to lose weight quickly, but these methods won't necessarily help you lose fat. Case in point: starvation. You can lose weight by staving yourself. However, this won't help you lose an iota of fat, the thing you WANT to lose!

Starving your body of food lead it to adjust itself. The body reacts to burning Stored fuels for energy instead when its supply of calories is cut off. It will first burn,Carbs, Protein and when then Muscles. Your body fat will be the last components that will be used as substitute for energy because it is the hardest component to burn .

As you can see, if you starve, fat is one of the last things you will lose, and muscle is one of the first! You will lose valuable muscles, make your bones weak and cripple your body in several different ways by starving. But that is not where it ends.

Most people starve for a few days and then they are unable to bear with hunger anymore! What they do next is start gorging on food like never before! This won't necessarily help you regain your lost muscle mass, unless you exercise regularly, but you will surely gain a lot of extra fat than what you had! That is because in the absence of muscles, your fat is not burned at the level it used to be (do you know that the more muscles you have the more fat you can burn?)!

If you are serious about trimming down that huge tummy, you need to lose FAT, not weight, and for that, you not only need to eat healthy foods regularly, but also workout at least five times per week. Choose a weight loss program that meets the above criteria! I lost 40 lbs in 3 months with extreme dieting measures that almost destroyed my health. Spicy food + lots of milk that lead to serious diarrhea every day. I've been doing a bit of research after my dramatic weight loss experience and found that there's actually a PROGRAM designed to do what I attempted, except its basically more healthier and effective.
