Is it OK to take Hoodia if you have a medical condition? by Eric James

It is advised to check with your doctor to see if Hoodia might interfere with your current medical conditions. This is a precaution that should be taken before taking any new supplement, even if it is a natural ingredient like Hoodia.

Hoodia has not been shown to cause adverse effects in people, including people who have diabetes. It is important to note that some Hoodia products are mixed with other ingredients and not necessarily in pure form. This is one of the reasons you should check with your healthcare provider.

Scientists continue to research how Hoodia interacts with medications and also how it affects those with existing medical conditions other than obesity. Tests are being conducted on humans to address these issues.

With a condition such as diabetes, which often comes about due to obesity, Hoodia can help the user cut down on cravings and food consumption that contribute to the development of the disease.

The blood sugar levels will be more balanced as a result of taking Hoodia because your appetite and thirst will be under control.

People have used Hoodia in the past to treat condition resulting from obesity such as diabetes etc. But it is only with the invention of modern medicine that scientists are able to conduct research now and develop other medications. Hoodia was used effectively before the modern medicines.

What we do know is that Hoodia is not supposed to be used by women who are pregnant or nursing, or by children. Any time you're taking a Hoodia product that combines ingredients (which means it's not 100% Hoodia Gordonii), then you should check with your physician even if you're currently in good health.

If you have an existing medical condition and want to start taking a product that contains Hoodia, make sure you notify your doctor and let him or her follow your progress to make certain there are no complications.
